Blue Flag is an international certification programme and eco-label which is granted to beaches and marinas which meet strict criteria for sustainable development, water quality, environmental education and management, safety and security.

Trinidad’s Las Cuevas Bay is currently the only Blue Flag certified beach in the Southern English-speaking Caribbean. The internationally coveted Blue Flag status was bestowed on the beach 10 months ago after six years of work by the Tourism Development Company (TDC).

Ms. Anastasia Gordon, Environmental Policy Analyst of the Ministry of Planning and Development who sits on the National Jury that guides the implementation of the Blue Flag in Trinidad and Tobago, participated in the re-opening of the Blue Flag season at Las Cuevas.
